iHUB Chisinau: beyond the space itself

8 April 2019

iHUB Chisinau has been contributing to the development of the local communities for two years now. In that time we are proud to say that we accomplished more goals that we set at the beginning. It wasn’t a smooth sail and we did make mistakes, but we always did our best and turned every bad situation into a lesson so we could do better the next time. All of iHUB products and the work we’ve done makes our team proud and that’s a good indicator of success.

iHUB Chisinau, along with our partner, ICT Excellence Center — Tekwill, organized projects and social events in order to help the community connect with ideas, resources, science, and the informational technology industry.

So, here is what we are working on:

Ignite Chisinau is an international event organized in over 100 countries. The concept is based on speakers that have five minutes to talk on a subject accompanied by 20 slides, for 15 seconds each, automatically advanced. This year we organized the 5th edition: The Future. The previous ones were: You Different, Failure Stories, After Hours and The Spirit. We had 100 speakers from Moldova and from abroad and 1689 participants in total.

Startup Weekend Moldova is a 54-hour event that brings together Chisinau designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts from all domains to do amazing things. The last 10th edition took place on 9–11th of November, at Tekwill.

Breaking Med is a revolutionary health programme and a large-scale entrepreneurial project that brings changes to the medical system in the Republic of Moldova exploring the technologies of the future in medicine. This initiative represents the infinite possibilities for current and future information technology transformation of the medical system. We organized 15 events about the future of health (web, apps, VR, 3D printing, Big Data), a design thinking conference and one hackathon. In total there were 200 participants trying to make a revolution in the Moldovan health system. Thanks to this project, 3 new startups started their activity.

Guest Lectures was a project based on helping students learn about a specific field from professionals and people with great experience, besides teachers. We organized 11 seminars in 3 universities with a total of 419 students.

TechVillage is a recent event that happened for the first time this September. We brought 30 startups and 30 investors from all over Europe for 3 days with the aim of creating meaningful and long-lasting connections between them and support the development of startups from CEE region. The event took place in a non-formal environment, in one of the most traditional villages of Moldova — Butuceni.

During these to years, we learned to organize our own events and projects better and better. This helped us to get connected with a lot of brilliant people who became a part of our community and are willing to help us grow. If you found yourself in any of our projects, we are always happy for new collaborations, partners, participants and ideas.
